Scammers and protecting your account
If someone on the street offers you an iPhone for a third of the price, you guess something is wrong. Use the same instinct here.
- “Signals” and “private groups” — you pay for tips on when to buy. If the tips worked, nobody would sell them. - A “personal manager” calls and talks you into topping up your account with more, “while you still have the chance”. - Copying other people's trades with a promise of “guaranteed income”. You can copy, but there are no guarantees. - “We'll recover your lost money” — after a fraud, new scammers appear and charge a fee for “recovery”. They won't return any money. - A deposit bonus — “+50% on your first deposit”. You can only withdraw it after trading a huge volume, and until then you often can't withdraw your own money either. In the European Union and the UK such bonuses are banned. - A copycat broker — a website with almost the same name as a well-known broker.
