When the market is open
- Cryptocurrencies are like a 24-hour store: always open, at night and on weekends too. - Currencies trade from Sunday evening to Friday evening, nonstop. Somewhere in the world it's always daytime, and someone is exchanging money. - Stocks trade only during their exchange's working hours and only on weekdays. US stocks trade during the day, New York time. - Commodities trade almost around the clock on weekdays, with short breaks. - Indices trade during their exchanges' hours on weekdays: the S&P 500 during the day in New York, the DAX, the index of Germany's largest companies, during the day in Frankfurt.
While the market is closed, the price stands still, and you can't buy or sell. If a stock chart in the simulator isn't moving on a Saturday, nothing is broken. The exchange is resting.
