What it is
A currency pair — the price of one currency in terms of another: how many US dollars one Australian dollar (“the aussie”) buys. Australia exports iron ore, coal and gas, mostly to Asia, so the rate depends on commodity prices and China’s economy, as well as Reserve Bank of Australia rates. Trading is busiest during Asian hours. The currency market runs around the clock from Sunday evening to Friday evening; it is closed at weekends.
