What it is
A currency pair — the price of one currency in terms of another: the quote shows how many US dollars one euro buys. One of the most liquid pairs in the world, traded by banks, exporters, funds and individual traders. The rate depends on the gap between European Central Bank and US Federal Reserve interest rates, inflation and jobs data, and political news in Europe and the US. The currency market runs around the clock from Sunday evening to Friday evening; it is closed at weekends.
